Brother Bruno's initial profession

This week, Brothers Josép and Samuel are visiting their respective families for a few days.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Br. Bernard was at Yale Divinity School offering spiritual direction to seminarians.

On Wednesday, we rejoiced in our Br. Bruno (previously known as Marc) who made his initial profession of the Benedictine vow in our St Augustine church. We are delighted that Bruno took this portentous step in his monastic vocation.

Brother Bruno's initial profession. From top left, clockwise: Br. Robert James, our Superior, hands his choir cowl to Bruno; Br. Robert James, blesses Bruno with holy water; a view of the monastic choir from the visitors court with Br. Robert James reading the gospel; a group photo of the monastic community and our intern Clay Wackerman (the tallest man in the back); our newest initially professed monk surrounded by the Superior and the Formator, Br. Josép; Br. Bruno surrounded by Br. Ephrem who will continue Bruno's formation and by Br. Josép; the formation team (back row, Clay Wackerman, Bros. Josép, Josias and Francis; front row: Bros. Samuel, Marc and Anthony).

We are blessed with a great team of men in formation. Would you hold them in prayer as well as their formators: Bros. Josép and Ephrem?

Francis repainting brood boxes for our bees: a view of the monastic enclosure from our back driveway; Monks on a stroll on the Walkway Over the Hudson (2 pictures. Back row: Bros. Bruno, Anthony and Aidan; front row: Bros Bernard and Josias surrounding Clay, our monastic intern.

On the day of Br. Bruno's initial profession, Associate John Decker, a professional filmmaker started shooting a documentary on the monastery to be screened in 2025. Several filming sessions will be spread out over the year to capture all seasons of the monastery. Check out our information page on the documentary and consider supporting this artistic endeavor financially.
