Hot contemplative days

The enclosure and guest house were in round-the-clock silence for the week as we observed Contemplative Days. We had a lot of guests taking advantage of the extra silence and solitude. They did not let the hot, humid weather that is not uncommon in the Hudson Valley in this season get to them.

We received three new Associates this week: Pat Ahearn, from New York City, Ann Burlein, from Jackson Heights, NY, and Elisabeth Sheehey, from Hyde Park, NY. It is always a joy to bring new folks into the extended Holy Cross community of prayer and service to God.

Guests and visitors not infrequently leave ratings and comments on our Google Business page.

This week, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a rating, a comment and monastery pictures from a river-based visitor. Reggie Vasquez was on board one of those bulk carriers that sometimes park on the Hudson awaiting either a berth at Albany's harbors or a river pilot to continue their journey. He took pictures and videos of the monastery as seen from his ship. You can see his rating, comment and pictures (including short videos) on our Google Business page.

We also received a group picture of Associates involved in this week's Episcopal Youth Event. Our Associates are serving the church and the world in many, many capacites. We're so proud of them!

Summer blessings to you.
