YASC and EVM

This week, Br. Josép was on retreat at Linwood Spiritual Center in Rhinecliff, NY. Br. Robert James is completing his second week of family visit at St Mary's House up the hill. On Monday, Br. Timothy had a successful knee surgery in Rhinebeck. He is back home and moving about.

We love working with the Young Adult Service Corps and the Episcopal Volunteers in Mission (click on the ministry names to find out more).

On Tuesday, we bid goodbye to the missionaries of the YASC and EVM ministries of the Episcopal Church. They had two weeks of orientation at the monastery to prepare them for their respective missions throughout the world. They are going to the Philippine, Israel-Palestine, Costa Rica and other exciting destinations.

Br. Aidan and the whole community blessed the missionaries on their way.

Monastery people. From top left, clockwise: Br. Aidan (front center) prays a blessing on the missionaries of YASC and EVM; Associate Elizabeth Boe (on the left is the coordinator of the YASC program) with this year's YASC and EVM volunteers; Br. Bernard with our latest Associate, John Elliott.

This week, we also received John Elliott of Philadelphia, PA, into the Associates program. His wife Wendy visited for a day to support John in his new commitment. John stayed a bit longer to coincide with his parish retreat at the monastery (St Clement's, Philadelphia).

Due to bad air quality this week, there was no gardening work. Our men in formation took the opportunity to get more of their (substantial) reading done. Hopefully, those of you in the Northeast are also finding fruitful indoors activities to stay safe.
