Second week of Lent

Br. Josép has arrived at Sant'Anselmo dell'Aventino in Rome to attend a three-month program for monastic formators. You can follow his Roman adventures on his Facebook page where he often posts entries: https://www.facebook.com/josep.martinezcubero .

Br. Bede had his 84th birthday on March 15.

We chanted the Common of Faithful Servants to observe the feast of St Patrick on March 17. Our chef served corned beef, cabbage and potatoes for lunch, of course.

The weather here has warmed somewhat. It has not frozen at nights. Maybe Spring is a concept we can contemplate again?

From top left, clockwise: still life with fruit and hellebores in the coffec corner near the refectory; hellebores are also known as Lenten Roses; the globalized economy continues to show up at the end of our meadow (super-bulker ship parked in the Hudson in the morning light, two pictures)

Lenten blessings.
